SCOTLAND
Flying – To arrive at the ceremony by 13:00 at Dunkeld it means arriving in either Edinburgh or Glasgow (or Prestwick) on the Saturday morning early flights so as to be able to get a train/drive to Perth which is ~1H30M away. You can get an idea of flight times using http://www.skyscanner.net/ or you may prefer to fly up Friday night.
Train – It might mean a very early morning if you’re coming by train from any distance. You can look at trains via http://www.scotrail.co.uk/ http://www.thetrainline.com/ or http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/.
Driving – You can plan the route on google I’m sure and visit http://trafficscotland.org/ for traffic and travel news before setting off.
BALLATHIE/DUNKELD
By Road
Perth 20 to 30 minutes
Edinburgh 60 to 90 minutes
Glasgow 90 to 120 minutes
Parking in Dunkeld is tight, especially near the Cathedral so we’re thinking of laying on a coach from the reception venue at Ballathie. It would be leaving there at 12:00 midday so for those who didn’t stay there on the Friday night you could head to the venue that morning and check-in to check it out, maybe even have a brunch, get changed and then jump on the coach. The really good news is that we’d also be laying on a coach back 🙂 You could also head to the ceremony direct by train and jump on the coach from Dunkeld to Ballathie after the ceremony.
Please let us know if you’re interested so we can reserve you a space on the bus in either / both directions.
By Train
To Dunkeld & direct to the ceremony – There is a station at Dunkeld (Dunkeld & Birnam), it’s 1 Mile so about 15 mins walk.

Train from Edinburgh Waverley leaving ~ 09:35 with duration ~ 1Hr58M changing at Perth.
To Ballathie & check in before the ceremony then jump on the coach – The closest station is Perth and get a cab from there/get picked up by a friend.
Train from Glasgow Central leaving ~ 09:41 with duration ~ 1Hr and no changes.
Train from Edinburgh Waverley leaving ~ 09:35 with duration ~ 1Hr17M and no changes.
CEREMONY
The ceremony starts at 13:00 at Dunkeld Cathedral and (apart from Helen who gets special dispensation) no one should be late.
Otherwise, if you are driving then the Cathedral ask that you use the North Car Park and not the very limited parking in front of the cathedral which is to be kept for disabled guests and the wedding party please. The North Car Park is, as the name suggests, to the north of the Cathedral and is no more than a third of a mile away if you walk through the park or via the road. It’s at PH8 0BB.
RECEPTION
The Reception at Ballathie is about 20 minutes by coach/car/cab from the Cathedral at Dunkeld. There isn’t a public transport option.
