The Caledonian Canal is across the fault line between Fort William and Inverness and true canal links Loch Linnhe, Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and Loch Ness.
We hired a cruiser for a week from Caley Cruisers which was great fun.
There are loads of things to see and do along the way. For example Urquhart Castle

Well worth a visit even if not on the canal is Fort Augustus where you can find a flight of 5 lock gates on the canal.
